Jackson + Rye has introduced New York brassiere dining with a new menu across all six of its venues including its restaurant in St Pauls. They now feature a collection of brassiere dishes inspired by classic French flavours with an American twist. The settings have been revamped into an elegant Art Deco Manhattan style dining  rooms.

We visited the branch in St Pauls which was bustling with city workers on a Thursday evening having a few festive beverages. The main bar serves a range of drinks including delicious cocktails from an Old Fashioned to a Manhattan. They are surprisingly very reasonably priced for such a stylish venue – a Bellini was only £4.95?! I opted for the Gin Garden  with cucumber, elderflower & tonic which was very refreshing.

The dining room

The restaurant is pretty stunning with an expansive downstairs area including a mezzanine area and looks so pretty at the minute with the festive decorations.

We started off with some warm Sourdough Bread with sea salted butter  – lately I really have become rather excited and content with some delicious bread and butter! Following that we had the Crunchy Chorizo Prawns with a mango chilli mayo and Salt and Pepper Squid with crispy vermicelli noddles, house sesame and lime dressing. Both starters were tasty and the best bit were the sauces – I have never had sesame and lime dressing with squid before and it really worked – packed a bit of a punch!

For mains we had to opt for a typical New York style Rib Eye Steak with triple cooked chips and peppercorn sauce and the BBQ Platter with brisket, smoked St Louis ribs, Peri Peri chicken wings, pickles and fries. Both were really quite filling and the meat was succulent.

Finally, we managed to squeeze in a Chocolate Fondant with salted caramel ice cream – love the warm and cold contrast and it was gooey, rich and perfect! I do think they should change the plates though…

In short

Gorgeous surroundings and food which does not break the bank. Also our waiter was also very sweet and was joking with us throughout the night which always adds to the experience.
