This week we visited The Diner on the Strand to try out their vegan menu. With eight branches of The Diner across London it is a popular spot for classic American food.
Decorated just like a classic American diner with cute green booths and specials lit up above the bar, The Diner is an attractive and large restaurant. The staff were friendly and had lots of suggestions and when we visited it was busy with a nice atmosphere.
The Diner Vegan Menu
The food we had was epic! Trying out some of their vegan specials we had the BBQ Jackfruit Burger: BBQ Jackfruit, cheddar, slaw & pickles and the Beetroot Burger: beetroot & kale patty, cheddar, roast garlic mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion & pickles. Both burgers were big, delicious and very moorish. The Jackfruit burger was full of sticky BBQ goodness and was very flavoursome. The beetroot burger had some great fillings too including the garlic mayo, which made sure it was not dry at all.
Alongside our mains we had some sweet potato fries and normal fries and we loved the option of adding vegan mayo including garlic and chipotle flavours – delicious!
To finish we had a stack of Vegan Pancakes with maple syrup and toasted almonds. We also opted to have one of the pancakes filled with chocolate chips – which we should have done for all of them! The pancakes were fluffy and tasty and disappeared very quickly!
We were really impressed by The Diner, particularly with their vegan menu and how diverse it was – not just falafel salad! The cocktail menu is pretty good too – we had the Queen B: with tea infused vodka, lemon & vanilla syrup and topped with prosecco and the Cream of the Crop: with vodka, grapefruit, peach liquor and cream soda.
I would recommend going for sure and it was particularly good value too.
