Culture Inspired Cupcakes from Miss Munchin’s
Rebecca Jones has successfully created a niche in the London cupcake market with her culture inspired cupcakes. Taking part in a Munchin Mission in 2016, Rebecca travelled solo to over 7 countries across 2 continents in 6 months, aiming to find inspiration for more unique cupcake flavours. After spending time with the locals and learning about their culture through their food, drink and history, Miss Munchin’s now have a range of flavours on offer!
Rebecca is so passionate about her business and connecting people with the world through her cupcakes. We tried the:
Ice Wine: Inspired by Canada – maple sponge with a Canadian maple butter filling, topped with an Ice Wine buttercream and a ice wine (a dessert wine made from frozen grapes) pippette sample
High Tea: Inspired by the UK – Using authentic 100% British grown poppy seeds infused in this sponge, this cupcake calls home with a a British raspberry jam & clotted cream filled centre. Topped with English tea buttercream
Casablanca: Inspired by Morocco – made from a date & almond sponge, topped with a honey buttercream. It includes an Morccaan Amlou (similar to Almond butter but made from argan oil, honey & roasted almonds) drizzle pippette.
Accra: Inspired by Ghana – make with nutmeg spiced banana sponge, topped with a smooth peanut butter buttercream made with Ghanaian peanut butter sourced from Ghana, and chopped peanut pieces.
All of the cupcakes were so flavoursome and it was so nice to try different flavours and ingredients understanding more about each culture – I had no idea about ice wine in Canada!
Miss Munchin’s offers a number of other fantastic cupcakes inspired by different countries including Holland, Romania, China and Brazil. Definitely worth checking out – grab a box of 6 for just £18!
