NYEAT RESTAURANT IN WIMBLEDON
THE BEATS AND TASTY EATS
Located a short walk down from the hustle and bustle of Wimbledon is where we stumbled across this recently opened American Bar Restaurant. NYEAT restaurant in Wimbledon is a cool place with some fantastic wall art and exposed brick walls. You could easily be mistaken (especially after one of their amazing cocktails or few) and feel like you were actually in NYC – it certainly got me in the mood for my upcoming trip to the Big Apple!
As you would expect from an American style restaurant NYEAT restaurant in Wimbledon is not tight on portions! We ordered the Californian Tacos to start – two generous portions of pulled beef tacos with a guacamole and sour cream topping. They are perfect for sharing, as you want to make sure you save room for the main and desserts.
The Maine Lobster was the ‘main attraction’ for me – it was beautifully presented and I enjoyed the experience of having to wrestle with the lobster cracker (I won!) so that I could enjoy the meaty lobster soaked in Cajun butter. I am usually left disappointed when I order Lobster as it can be underwhelming and I am often still hungry after the wrestle off but this was certainly not the case here and it was very delicate and flavoursome. You are guaranteed to get your monies worth, and some!
We were spoilt for choice from the vast menu and I wanted to try a little of everything so it was great to see that the restaurant caters for indecisive eaters like me. We opted for the Wings and Ribs and again they were not shy with the portions and you could really get down and dirty with the tasty hot wings and chunky ribs – perfect for meat lovers.
We didn’t really need dessert and were so full from the amazing feast but we couldn’t go to a NY restaurant and not try the New York Cheesecake… it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal and I would highly recommend along with an espresso martini to wash it down.
The drinks menu is extensive and the talented mixologists add to the fun and entertainment – shaking and stirring to the tunes/ We were recommended a couple of cocktails by our waiter, and went for ‘The Playboy Mansion’ which is a mixture of vodka, lychee liqueur, passion fruit liqueur and a dash of lime – basically a load of alcohol and it certainly had a kick to it. My friend ordered the ‘Perfect L.A. Smile’ and she was certainly doing just that whilst sipping on this refreshing concoction of gin, lime and cucumber. Not only did the cocktails look and taste great, they arrived in real style with the largest goblets surrounded by dry ice and complete with a cherry on top!
I class myself as a self-confessed espresso martini snob, and sometimes find they can be either too sweet or too bitter – the trick is getting them exactly right and then wishing martini glasses were bigger! I loved the ones here and they went down too easily – maybe next time I will ask if they can make them in the gin goblet for me?!?
All in all, a really cool place and a welcome addition to Wimbledon if you are looking for a fun night with friends. It is perfect for a special occasion and has a secluded area for private dining experience where you can still soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the tunes.
We recommend a Thursday night visit when there is live music with the latest covers you can’t help but sing along to. The staff are friendly and attentive and able to recommend dishes and cocktails to suit your taste.
