Restaurant in Stoke Newington
Andi’s is a modern European restaurant in Stoke Newington founded by chef Andi Oliver, of BBC radio 4 and Saturday Kitchen. The menu is simple and the food is fresh with great vegan options and separate brunch and afternoon treats too. The restaurant is very pretty with a lovely little open terrace area in the back – perfect for summer!
With prosecco at half price on week nights it would be rude not to have a glass or two. It was crisp and fresh served in a classic coupe glass which always makes you feel a little fancy. We also sampled the recommended cocktail of the day a ‘Gin Sour’ which was presented well and tasted delicious.
We started with Plantain croquettes & vegan miso mayonnaise and Cannellini bean hummus, asparagus, pine nuts & flat bread. The hummus was delicious and full of flavour, with plenty to pile on to the crispy flatbread. . The croquettes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside – just how they should be! Both starters were light dishes with great flavour combinations.
For our mains we had the Mushroom Schnitzel, potatoes, capers & dill and the Slow roast wild garlic honey & shoe glazed pork belly, jalapeño broccoli stalks & crackling. Both of our mains had the wow factor. The schnitzel was a vegan dream – it was so delicious you do not feel that you are missing out on anything. The coating was crispy and the mushroom was soft and juicy and the potato and dill mix was a great accompaniment bursting with flavour. The pork was equally delicious, full of flavour and all of the fat was perfectly rendered down. The combination of flavours were ideal and the epic crackling was the cherry on the pork flavoured cake!
We had a lovely meal at Andi’s, the staff were attentive and looked after us well and the atmosphere was relaxed. Andi puts a lot of effort into creating the ideal menu and adding her twist to classic comfort food and that certainly shows when dining at her restaurant. With options for both meat eaters and vegans it is an ideal restaurant in Stoke Newington to visit.
