The Jones Family Kitchen
Restaurant in Belgravia
The Jones Family Kitchen restaurant in Belgravia is from the same creators of one of our favourite independent restaurants in Shoreditch, The Jones Family Project. Finding out that they had a new hidden gem in Belgravia we could not wait to visit.
Situated less than a five minute walk from Victoria Coach Station, Eccleston Yard has been transformed from an old warehouse space / car park to create a haven for visitors off the busy streets of Victoria. Part of the charm is the fact it is tucked away from the hustle and bustle. We hope it will retain part of the secrecy.
As you arrive in Eccleston Yard, one of the stand out features is the Frieda painting from Zabou which is so vibrant and beautiful.
Opposite the mural lies The Jones Family Kitchen with a spacious outside terrace perfect for al fresco drinking and dining. The interior is absolutely gorgeous with and we loved the quirky photos on the wall. The staff were so accommodating throughout our evening assisting with cocktail choices and recommending cuts of meat.
We absolutely love the cocktail menu at The Jones Family Kitchen!! Sometimes bars go a little far with the cocktails and make them over complicated which can confuse consumers. This menu has awesome creations but with familiarity in the spirits and ingredients.
The cocktails were SPOT on. We had:
- LA VIE EN ROSE: Rose Vodka, rose wine, lemon juice, soda
- SAFFRON SOUR: Absolut Vodka, house made saffron syrup, lemon juice, orange bitters, egg white
- THE DRAGON FRUIT: Silent Pool Gin, Belsazar Rose, Strawberry Puree, Pineapple Juice, Lemon Juice, Rose and Honey
They looked gorgeous and were refreshing without being too sweet.
We were recommended one of the new gins on the menu from Japan that has limited circulation in the UK! The Kin No Tea is served with white chocolate (representing the mountains of Kyoto) and lime. The mixture really worked for me – taking away the slightly bitter gin taste and replacing it with more citrus flavours.
The Food Menu
The Jones Family Kitchen is known for its excellent steaks, with the meat sourced from the wonderful Ginger Pig. However, they acknowledge that more people are wanting an alternative to meat. With this in mind, they have three vegan dishes (including risotto and charred cauliflower) as well as a separate gluten free menu. So fear not veggies and vegans, this lovely restaurant is still accessible for you!
To start with we had the Seared Scallops, cauliflower, wild garlic gremolata (£9) and Charcoal-Grilled Asparagus, Markham Farm asparagus, romesco, parmesan (£8). Both starters were fresh, light and tasty and the dressing with the asparagus was particularly impressive.
On to the mains we had the 300g 55 dry aged Rump Steak (£19.50) and the 350g Sirloin Steak (£27.00) cooked medium rare. Both cuts of meat were enormous and just so tender! The Rump for me had more flavour (more like a rib eye) and the sirloin was more like a fillet. These were top steaks at very reasonable prices.
As sides we opted for the Truffle mac and cheese which is actually a rather large portion. It was crispy on the top and rich with a great consistency – highly recommended! The triple cooked chips and rocket and parmesan salad were both solid choices too!
This dessert menu was made for me!! With two of my favourite desserts – sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie, I was torn. The lemon tart also sounded top notch. We just had to try Anna’s triple chocolate brownie, named after one of the lovely co-founders. Oh my, we were blown away!! This is exactly how a brownie should be – it was moist, gooey, had a good crunch and was perfect with the ice cream. Hands down one of the best brownies I have ever had.
We also had a delicious Espresso Martini and a cocktail creation off menu courtesy of Leo!
The Jones Family Kitchen restaurant in Belgravia lived up to my expectations and more. The venue is stunning, the food is spot on, the cocktails are fantastic and the staff are great. Seriously, what more could you want?!
