The Manhattan Grill: Restaurant in Canary Wharf
After our gin masterclass we sampled the new menu at the Manhattan Grill restaurant in Canary Wharf. The tasting menu allows you to try out a range of starters, meats and desserts. It is extremely good value at a very modest price of just £35 per person.
For starters we were presented with a stunning selection of King Prawns with chilli and garlic, Pressed Beef, Scallops with caramelized onions and Grilled Romaine Wedge with shallot vinaigrette. The starters were fantastic, full of flavours that really complimented each other. The real winner for us was the King Prawns which were beautifully cooked with great garlic flavours.
We were then presented with our mains – a selection of fresh cuts of meat along with a variety of sides. The tasting menu provides you with a selection of USDA Beef Fillet, Scottish Beef Fillet, USDA New York Strip and Scottish Rib-Eye. The steaks are all cooked medium but you can request different if you prefer. All the meats were juicy and well seasoned. My favourite cut on the night was the Scottish Rib-Eye – it was so succulent it almost melted in my mouth.
You can choose two sides from the a la carte menu. We had a selection of triple cooked chips, sweet potato fries, greens and mac ‘n’ cheese. The tenderstem broccoli was a favourite as was the mac n cheese!
The four miniature desserts were just as stunning as the rest of the meal. We had a little layered sponge cake with fresh cream and jam, an indulgent strawberry tart, an extremely rich and pleasing chocolate layered cake and finally a slice of Battenberg. The choice and variety was fantastic and they all tasted so fresh.
We absolutely loved the gin masterclass and our dinner at Marriott Hotel. If you are looking for a restaurant in Canary Wharf, you must try the new tasting menu! The staff were incredibly knowledgable and pleasants and the hotel had both class and ambiance.
