This gorgeous restaurant and bar in Southbank is situated in the Royal Festival Hall right by the river. The interiors are stunning with a grand bar in the middle and floral decorations surrounding the venue. The Riverview lounge area is perfect for having cocktails and taking in the views of the Southbank and Thames below.
The cocktails at Skylon are fantastic. They have special menus throughout the year with Cloud 9 being the current theme. We had the Cotton Cloud with wild berry cordial, rose perfume, Laurent-Perrier La Cuvee (£15.50). It was beautifully presented with a candy floss cloud with an edible butterfly on the top. We also had the Seventh Heaven with St Germain, fresh mint, lime juice, cloudy apple juice, cucumber and Laurent-Perrier La Cuvee (£15.50). This was refreshing and tasty but didn’t look or feel as special as the Cotton Cloud.
Skylon’s regular cocktail menu should certainly not be overlooked either! We had two exceptional cocktails – Holiday Romance and Aphrodite.
The Holiday Romance was served with Jindea gin, Aba pisco, passion fruit puree mixed with fresh lemon juice and vanilla syrup (£12). The cocktail was similar to a porn star martini but even better!
Aphrodite was served with Ketel One vodka, Cointreau orange liqueur, strawberry puree, fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup (£13). It was sweet and delicious!
Skylon is a beautiful bar in Southbank worth visiting for a treat. The venue is stunning, the views are pretty special and the cocktails are fantastic. It is certainly worth paying a little more than usual for the experience.
If you also fancy dinner here, they offer a reasonably priced pre theatre menu of 2 courses for £20 and three courses for £25 with an additional wine pairing for £10 / 15.
