Newly opened Arthur Hooper’s is situated in the heart of Borough Market offering a range of smaller plates and sharing boards with an extensive wine list.
Ingredients from the menu are sourced from local suppliers including Androuet and Cannon & Cannon and include charcuterie, cheeses, meat, vegetables and fish – most of them are small dishes but you can order a smaller selection as main dishes. We had the (1) Focaccia with Olive Oil which is so light and fluffy (2) Burrata, Samphire and Almond Salad, which is an absolute must order (3) Lamb Merquez which is one the most original options on the menu
(4) Lamb and Bulgar Meatballs, tomato sauce, yoghurt, which is very tasty (5) Handmade Fettuccine with pork and fennel ragu which is another must order (6) Beef Carpaccio, salsa verde, capezzana olive oil, which is highly recommended and the salsa verde was great and (7) Harissa butter beans, charred tenderstem, ricotta, seeds. The food was well presented and flavoursome – we were also told that the mussles, nduja, turnip tops is a very popular dish.
We even managed to squeeze in a chocolate hazelnut pot with salted caramel biscuit for dessert which was smooth and rich.
The interior is quirky using steel caged light fittings and decaying wooden stalls and it has a relaxed but sophisticated feel to it. There are a number of tables outside for the sunnier evenings, people watching and a number of Aperol Spritz’s!
Arthur Hoopers is perfect as a wine bar and as an excuse to try some different dishes (I love sharing!). Accommodating and friendly staff, fantastic location and great food!
