Really rated the food at Chotto Matte last time I visited so decided to try out their new brunch offering on Sunday.
For £50 per person you receive one tasting menu, a cocktail / beer on arrival and half a bottle of prosecco or wine. The cocktails include Pisco Sour, Bloody Mary and a Pimm’s Cocktail. For £45 per person you can chose the non alcoholic option offering 3 mocktails – we loved the Juniper Tonic (Blackcurrant jam, juniper syrup, elderflower
tonic, lemon juice, Mediterranean tonic).
The tasting menu was varied and absolutely delicious! We had:
CEVICHE: sea bass sashimi, sweet potato, Peruvian corn, coriander, chive oil, leche de Tigre
SUSHI: Maguro (tuna) Hotategai (scallop) Sake (salmon) Hamachi (yellowtail) Suzuki (seabass)
TEMPURA: Nikkei Sepia calamari, aji amarillo emulsion
ROBATA: beef short rib, asparagus, purple potato, chicken miso, carrot, daikon, yellow chili salsa and Sake sautéed broccoli
DESSERT Chocolate pot, Mango mochi balls and Passion fruit brûlée
Everything really was amazing – I particularly loved the calamari and beef short rib! The mini trio of desserts was a fantastic end to the meal too.
Chotto Matte is a real treat in the heart of Soho – something special without being too pretentious. The service is not the friendliness I have had but the food would bring me back, plus the brunch is really good value!
