Tapas Restaurant in Mayfair
What an adorable Spanish tapas restaurant in Mayfair offering over 60 tapas dishes, al fresco dining and fantastic service. The atmosphere is fantastic and reminded me of a restaurant I visited in Barcelona. There is a beautiful bar area, the restaurant has low lighting is decorated in a traditional / rustic manner.
There is a great choice of dishes on the menu including tapas (obviously!) larger plates (paella!) and set menus at very reasonable prices (£18-23). To begin with we had padron peppers, pan con tomate and serrano ham which were all absolutely delicious. The pan had a great hint of garlic that was not overpowering and the pardon peppers were salty and mourish.
Given we were hungry, we chose another 6 tapas dishes! We had the spanish chicken and rice, croquetas de jamon, patatas bravas, marinated deep fried fish, calamares and prawns in olive oil, garlic & dried hot chilli peppers. We particularly loved the croquetas and the prawns which were so flavoursome. All of these dishes were so reasonably priced for the quality between £5 and £7.
The service at El Pirata was so friendly, efficient and helpful which made our experience even better The prices are very reasonable for the quality and atmosphere and we highly recommend this lovely tapas restaurant in Mayfair! They are clearly doing something right as they have been serving Londonders since 1994. So impressive.
