Based on Essex Road lies Meat People – a shabby chic restaurant with tiled ceiling, wooden panelling and steel-framed windows, serving a decent selection of steaks and, as the name suggests, other meats!
The focus is on steak (chateaubriands to share, rib-eye, fillet and bavettes) which are tender and flavoursome. Other mains include baked stuffed chicken, seared kangaroo, lamb rump and ox cheeks. Prices on the steaks are based on 100g (minimum 200g) so if you want a small steak it will only be around £16, which is particularly good for a fillet. Variety of starters include pork belly, calamari and crab cakes at around £7 each.
I recommend the pork belly and the bavette steak with peppercorn sauce, chips and spinach.
Good pleasant service and not absolutely packed, which was nice. The brunch menu looks decent too!
