Voted one of the world’s best bars in various publications, Nightjar is a bit of a hidden secret (at least location wise!) in London.

Located near Old Street, you could easily walk past Nightjar so keep your eyes open! With a speakeasy vibe, Nightjar offers a relaxed but quite special atmosphere with live jazz playing from 9.30pm (extra £5 pp for on most days).

The cocktail menu is split into different sections – pre-prohibition, prohibition and post war together with some of the Nightjar signature cocktails. They have clearly taken a lot of time in care in crafting these cocktails and some of the ingredients are a bit out there e.g. mozzarella!

We went for the YORKSHIRE PUNCH, a sharing cocktail served in an owl pitcher – it arrives with dry ice coming out of the beak which is pretty awesome! At only £10pp, it actually is one of the best value cocktails on the menu as there is enough for two teacups each and presentationally it looks fantastic. This one contained gin mare, st germain elderflower liqueur, giffard seasonal berry liqueurs, apple and rhubarb juice, fresh squeezed lemon, yorkshire tea bee pollen syrup and ginger beer.

We also tried the DIKI DIKI elephant gin, turkish apple infusion, swedish punsch, fresh squeezed pink grapefruit fresh, squeezed lime, Scandinavian crusta and the FROZEN FJORD 12 reyka vodka, nigella seeds infusion, aperol, lingonberry jam, fresh squeezed mandarin & grapefruit blinq blossom, both £12 each. They were so beautifully presented!

The service is good (and deserves the 12.5% charge they add to the bill) – our second round of cocktails took around 20 minutes to arrive and a member of staff  acknowledged it was taking a while and offered us a complimentary teacup of punch, which was over and above.

Love the bar – definitely a go to in London! oh and you also get popcorn with your drinks!
