Penang, Westfields Shepherds Bush
Asian food is one of my favourite cuisines so I was super excited to try the food at Penang! To start with we chose some Vegetable spring rolls – so crispy with a great kick to them and the Vegetable dumplings, which came with a tasty ginger dipping sauce.
For our main meals we had the Mee Goreng which was amazing – such great flavours with huge meaty king prawns and a great amount of spice. We also had the Beef Rendang, which was ridiculously tender – at first the dish seems quite mild, but the sweetness of the sauce and the hotness of the chillies soon really kicked in! The Rendang comes on its own so you can choose which side you’d like to go with it. We opted for sticky rice, which was a real generous portion so it’s a great one to share between two!
Finally we ordered some Roti Paratha with a chicken curry sauce dip. Wow! It smelt so delicious when it came out, and reminded me of pancakes! It was really amazing tasting flatbread and the dip was so delicious.
We finished sharing a Sago Gula Melaka for dessert which looked beautiful and tasted very light and fresh with a interesting texture from the sago!
I’d definitely love to try some more from Penang at Westfields but from this visit the Mee Goreng was the real show stopper for me!
Reasonable prices at Penang but only reasonable service unfortunately.
