Rooftop bar on South Bank

12th Knot is a rooftop bar on South Bank located on the 12th floor of Sea Containers Hotel. Under a 10 minute walk from Blackfriars and Waterloo, it is conveniently located along the River Thames.

The interiors are absolutely stunning with vibrant colours and bright decor and the gorgeous backdrop of London (we love St Paul’s the most!). With tables, sofa’s, bar stools and seating outside, 12th knot has it all. Given it is a pretty flash venue, they do have a smart / casual dress code.

The Cocktails

The cocktail menu is kept quite small with 10 alcoholic choices. We were immediately drawn to the Lab and the City (£13.50) served with Aperol, Finlandia Vodka, Pineapple Syrup, Cranberry, Lime, Yuzu. It was light and fruity (without being too sweet) and was really rather easy to drink – always dangerous… The Harry’s Legacy (£14) was served with Dubonnet, Saint Germain Elderflower , Beefeater London Garden Gin , Yellow Chartreuse , Red Currants , Citrus , Champagne. The drink looked absolutely gorgeous and was fruity and floral.

We decided to go off menu for the next cocktail with a East 8 Hold Up. Described as simialr to a porn star martini, but not as sweet, this cocktail was served with Aperol, Vodka, Lime, Pineapple and Passion Fruit. Finally, we had a Naked Future (£13) with Naked Grouse, Vanilla, Sekforde Mixer, Rose, Mint and Sage. The sharpness of the whiskey was balanced with the vanilla and rose and it almost had a sweet aftertaste.

Overall

12th Knot has certainly stepped into its predecessor’s (Rumpus Room) shoes as a beautiful rooftop bar on South Bank. It also hosts Tuesday Takeovers with some great food vendors which sounds awesome.

As the cocktails are generally around £14 plus service, 12th knot is more one for a special occasion. That said, it is a gorgeous bar with beautiful views of London so we think it is worth the extra pounds!
