I visited for an Indian street food cooking class mid-week and was so happy that the size of the class was small and intimate which allowed us all to get involved! The head chef, Andrew, who has worked at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, Rick Stein’s restaurant and overseas, led the class and was passionate and informative.
For the Mogul Chicken Curry we started off making a curry paste by grinding all of the seeds and spices together. We then added garlic and onion followed by chicken, coconut milk tomato and chilli. It smelt delicious throughout!
We then chopped a whole array of fresh vegetables to make the spiced vegetable biryani including courgette, aubergine, peppers and green beans, added curry paste, stock and rice.
To accompany our curries we made a cucumber and mint raita and some onion bhajis. I was such an amateur I didn’t know that you added salt to make the onions softer! We molded them into balls and lightly fried them to perfection.
Our dishes were very tasty (not biased at all!) and we were offered drinks throughout. There was even some to take home which made me very happy!
They have plenty of cooking classes on offer including south american, vegan, pasta, cakes, fish and mexican street food! Jenius also offer team building classes and private events – they had a hen do party of 25 people at the weekend which sounded fun!
