Larder is located in Pearson Square, Fitzrovia, just a five minute walk from Goodge Street station. It’s a café, store and wine bar with a great selection of drinks and an impressive deli counter. The café itself is very attractive, light and decorated with a modern twist. It’s a great place to grab a quick bite to eat midday or enjoy a few wines after work with friends. You can eat in or take away, with the option to sit outside if the London weather allows it! The staff were friendly and welcoming and we were served really quickly.
We had a selection of eats including the Chicken, Avo & Dijonaise ciabatta, the Sausage Roll, a mix of the two Daily Salads, the Perello Olives and the Meatballs: in tomato sauce, olives & lemon zest. The ciabatta was really tasty, with chargrilled juicy chicken, smashed avocado and a mustard mayo stuffed into crispy ciabatta – a great mix. The sausage roll was incredible! Chunky and meaty wrapped in light crispy puff pastry – it was the favourite by far!
The daily salads were filling and delicious, one had sweet potato, butternut squash, bulgar wheat, kale & feta whilst the other had green beans, olives, onions & tomatoes. The flavours married well together and the ingredients were all fresh and tasted like they were good quality. The olives weren’t for me, I think they’re an acquired taste type olive, I’ve not had a Perello olive before – maybe I just need mine smothered in garlic and herbs to enjoy them! Finally the meatballs were fantastic, big fat meaty balls full of flavour in a gorgeous tomato and olive sauce.
It’s an attractive little café with friendly and attentive staff, a great central location too – if you work in the area you should definitely pop in for lunch or after work I think it’s well worth a visit. The sandwiches and salads change daily and if you go for one thing make sure it’s that sausage roll!
