OXO Tower – another Landmark for your London Bucket List
Situated on the river front at South Bank, the Oxo Tower should definitely be on your list of landmarks in London to visit. With shops, dining and an art gallery, there will definitely be something for everyone within this busy hub of the Capital. What’s more, there’s drinking and dining to suit all budgets, from the Oxo Tower Bar where you can stop for a drink and some brunch or a light bite, to the Oxo Tower Brasserie where you can enjoy their speciality Grill plates, or to the Oxo Tower Restaurant to experience some fine dining at its best.
8th Floor Brunch
Brunch time at the Oxo Tower – the views!!
Whilst taking in the stunning views of the City with some well-known landmarks in sight such as St Paul’s Cathedral, we enjoyed a delicious Cappuccino, Green Tea, and snacked on some mixed nuts, juicy olives, and fresh bread, which was still so warm from the oven!
We chose the Battered Fish Burger and the Baked Egg and Chorizo for brunch and as much as everything looked incredible on the menu (trust me it was so hard to decide what to have!) we were not disappointed with our choices! The fish in the burger was cooked “tempura” style, which is a Japanese style of deep-frying that uses a very light batter with hot oil to create a light, crisp crust around the fish. It was so amazing! The Oxo Tower also uses a fish monger on site so I couldn’t get fish much fresher than I did in that burger. The Baked Egg and Chorizo was one of the cutest dishes I’ve ever seen. Cooked inside a mini casserole dish with layers of chorizo, stewed tomatoes, crème fraiche with an egg on top, every bite had a different flavour! The lightly toasted sourdough was a real compliment to the dish and served as a better (and obviously tastier!) utensil than a fork to eat this delicious meal!
Dining Options for everyone at Oxo!
After we finished, we were shown around the rest of the 8th floor and were introduced to the Brasserie, where the open kitchen looked out onto the diners creating that real theatrical air. What’s more, if you love Blue’s or Jazz, then book yourself a table here from Thursday to Sunday to enjoy some live music, whilst enjoying their renowned Grilled food.
We then visited the Oxo Restaurant which was really something special. This is definitely the place for special occasion where you can splash the cash on some amazing food and immense wine list!
Another great little perk of this award-winning landmark building is that if you simply want to enjoy some beautiful views of London for free, then you’re more than welcome to go up there to take it all in. But I urge you when you do, to take a seat in the bar (which is also child friendly) and enjoy a drink or two and try some of their amazing food!
If you fancy visiting either the Bar, Brasserie or Restaurant this side of Christmas then call to book in advance as they’re so popular you may miss out!
