Cocktail Bar near Soho Square
68 and Boston is a gorgeous cocktail bar near Soho Square on Greek Street. ’68’ is the wine bar on the ground floor. It features a list of 20 quality wines from £20 per bottle and 45 different wines by the glass! ‘Boston’ is the cocktail lounge on the first floor where we visited. It has an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere with original 1920s wood panelling and Art Decor lighting.
The Suntory Menu
We tried out the limited edition House of Suntory takeover which has transformed ‘Boston’ to a Japanese Sakura lounge filled with gorgeous blossom trees.
The menu features four creations using Roku Gin, Haku Vodka and Toki Whiskey (all £10.5). The two Roku Gin cocktails were Roku Hibiscus: Roku Gin infused with hibiscus, Mastica and honey syrup, lime and tonic and the Roku In Bloom: Roku Gin, Tonka Bean & Strawberry cordial and kaffir lime leaves. The hibiscus was not overpowering and the honey did not make the cocktail too sweet. Don’t be afraid of the Tonka Bean in the Roku In Bloom – it was a sweet and slightly tangy cocktail.
The Haku Blossom was served with Haku Vodka, Lemon and rapsberry curd, Italicus liquer and blossom flowers. We also had the Spirit of Suntory with Toki Whiskey, 30/40 aperitif de Normandy, pineapple coffee syrup and plum white foam. The presentation of these cocktails was absolutely stunning. It just shows the time and effort that goes into making these creations!
We did not try any of the food but the menu looked designed for sharing small bites over cocktails. It included olives, flatbread, padron peppers, zucchini fries, chorizo and calamari.
