The Drinks

It was great to see some fantastic Mocktail options on the menu. We opted for a Peruvian Petal Cocktail: pisco, rose syrup, aqua faba, rose petals (£9) and the Pink and Leafy Mocktail: cranberry, almond, mint, rose (£5). If you’re into your floral notes then the Peruvian Petal was immense! Not only that, but it was a stunner too – a delicate white froth with pretty purple edible flowers resting on top.

The Mocktail was a real winner too with lovely fresh tones from the mint. A shout out to the cool “Game of Thrones” style water jug too.

The Small Plates

This restaurant really has a lot to offer, from scrumptious breakfasts to bottomless brunches. We tried their Middle Eastern small plates menu, where 3 dishes per person is sufficient. Everything looked seriously good on this menu which is helpfully laid out by types of dish including cheese & cured, vegetables, fish, meat, pide and sides. After careful consideration (and some suggestions from our helpful waitress) we chose:

Cauliflower – fried cauliflower, crispy shallots, green tahini, pomegranate, dukkah £8

Pierogi – dumplings with oyster mushrooms, home made kimchi, yoghurt £8

Onglet – marinated hanger steak, aubergine and potato mousse, charred gem lettuce £11

Burnt Leek Pide – blue cheese, caramelized onions, red basil, figs £9

Chorizo Pide – caramelized onions, rocket, cheery tomato, goats cheese £9

House Fried Potato – chives, young pecorino, truffle oil, served with harissa mayo £4.50

The Verdict

Every dish just blew us away. The dishes come out as they are ready and we couldn’t wait for the next one to arrive.

The cauliflower has incredible textures and is served with crunchy pomegranate seeds. The Pierogi was some of the best we have had – they tasted as good as the ones in Warsaw we had tried. The yoghurt was the icing on the cake – plus it made a fab dipping sauce for the rest of the plates!

The Onlget was as you would expect hanger steak to be – served medium-rare and very tender! We loved the soft aubergine and potato mousse which literally melted in our mouths.

The Pides (like small pizzas) were fantastic, and really helped to carb up our selection, definitely filling us up by the end of the meal. Finally, the house fried potatoes are something you need to get as your side dish. These little cubes of joy were simply divine when dipped in the harissa mayo and the pecorino cheese!
