Just like BYOB (bring your own booze), this is BYOC (bring you own cocktail!). 2 branches in London – one in Camden and one in Covent Garden.
The theory behind these venues is you pay £25 per person and bring your own bottle of unopened booze! The bartender then has all the mixers you could possibly want for a wide range of cocktails.
The branch in Camden is themed as a 1920’s speakeasy bar with poker / roulette themed tables and the dark lighting makes for a good atmosphere! I came here for my birthday with 7 other ladies and it was a great start to the night. From reviews I have read the Covent Garden venue is smaller.
The bartender talks you through what you want in your cocktail and then makes it up for you! Given we were in a big group, he also made us a big punch bowl for when we were thirsty in between cocktails. It is not an interactive cocktail making class unless (like cheeky little me) you ask! The bartender let me mix and shake and make a variety of cocktails which was really good fun (for about 20 minutes and then I actually felt a little worn out!).
Some people will think “why are we paying £25 to bring our own booze?!” but if you think about going to a normal cocktail bar, you would be paying £8-12 for a cocktail. During our two hour slot we had about 6/7 cocktails and a few shots. Therefore, depending on how much you drink, it can be fantastic value!
I would, however, recommend bringing smaller bottles of alcohol, as we had a fair bit left over despite our very best efforts of mixing and downing shots!
