Showtime Brunch

On Saturdays from 12-5pm Cattivo offers a fantastic showtime brunch for £50pp. Think lots of sharing plates, plenty of drinks and different entertainment every week from 3pm. From the drinks you can mix and match for the table! What an absolute treat. You can choose from five bottles of Itlaina beer, bottle of Italian red or white wine, a bottle of prosecco or a Bloody Mary tray with 200ml vodka and all the stuff to make at least four pretty good Bloody Mary’s.

We stuck with good ol’ prosecco! When we arrived there were two bottles of prosecco waiting on the table for the four of us. It wasn’t just typical prosecco though – it was your pimp your prosecco! We were given small jugs of orange juice for mimosa, blackberry and thyme and fresh strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. This was an excellent added touch!

The Food

Italian is one of my favourite cuisines so I was super excited about the menu. First up was some delicious Pecorino and Lemon Focaccia with lemon oil which was a nice twist on the traditional oil.  To start we had (i) Fried Squash, Vegan Hollandaise, pine nuts and radicchio, (ii) Nduja & Taleggio Arancini with rocket pesto and (iii) Fried Cod with salad cream. The hollandaise with the squash was flavoursome and we loved the addition of pine nuts. Arancini is one of my favourite dishes and these were great, although I would have loved to see a little more spice from the nduja.

On to the main meals, we loved the Spicy Pork & Fennel Meatballs with delicious al dente spaghetti and a good portion of meatballs. The veggie meatballs (ricotta and spinach) were similarly great. The Truffle and Pecorino Tortellioni with sage was a winner for me – I just can’t get enough of sage at the minute. Our final, dish was the slow and deep beef pappardelle ragu which was an extremely generous portion but  a little bland for us. The best bit is that if you are still hungry, you can order more!!

Another highlight of the meal was the Sweet Bomboloni with salted caramel buttercream. These sweet doughnut like treats were warm, sugary and were just so amazing dipped in the buttercream.

The Show

The entertainment kicks off at 3pm in the downstairs cocktail bar and changes every week. Think from drag queen to Ska and from hip hop to Latin, Cattivo has it all. We watched South London Ska Band, an eight piece band who brought a lot of life and atmosphere downstairs to the crowd.

Bingo Time!

Cattivo’s Bubbles and Bingo is held every Wednesday and just £2 for the Bingo Quiz and £10 for a bottle of prosecco! For the price you can’t grumble and from the moment the Bingo Quiz began it was a lot of fun!

The host of the quiz is very charismatic, funny and really gets you involved. The Bingo actually starts off as a quiz where you have a grid numbered randomly and have to write your answer to the question the host has asked in the correct numbered square.  Every so often there is a bonus round where you have to do something random (don’t want to spoil!) These bonus rounds come with some fab prizes like free bottles of prosecco for your table!

Once the quiz is over your answer grid then turns into a bingo sheet and as the answers are shouted out, you cross off your answer (as long as it’s correct!) and if you get a line or two then you’ve won the bingo! We were lucky enough to win a bottle of Cattivo’s gin! For such a small price this is an incredibly fun night out!
