Foundation Bar

STAR HAPPY HOUR DEALS: 50% off all drinks daily from 5pm-7.30pm (excluding bottles of champagne) – BARGAIN!

Based near Covent Garden tube station, Foundation Bar is a great way to start or end a night. With three different rooms in the venue, there is plenty of space to spread out. Good atmosphere from beginning to end and a club night on Fridays and Saturdays until 1am.

The cocktails menu is extensive (see bottom of page) with some served in teapots / teacups and others served in jam jars (who is doesn’t like drinks in jam jars?!). My favourites were the dip dab (Bacardi Rum with fresh strawberries, teaspoon of strawberry sherbet crystals and strawberry jam with a side of dip dab!) and the Almondation (Disaronno and Frangelico with lemon juice and bitters and a side of nuts). If you hadn’t guessed, I do have a rather sweet tooth….

You can’t go wrong with a mojito (below) but I love the cocktails that come with something a little special. Below are the Jelly Beanz (Southern Comfort, Peach Schnapps, strawberry, cranberry and lime with jelly beans), Downtown Abbey (Vodka, Cherry Liqueur, raspberries and blackberries and red wine accompanied by cheese and crackers) and Jaffa Cake (Vanilla vodka, chocolate liqueur and baileys with chocolate cream and marmalade served with Jaffa cakes on the side!).

Food is also available from sharing platters to burgers and pizzas. We opted for the foundation platter with pepperoni and chilli hand rolled pizza (a whole pizza by the way!) voodoo chicken wings (delicious with plenty of sauce), chorizo sausage roll, chips and dips and chilli popcorn – plenty for two people. The loaded nachos with guacamole, salsa and sour cream were also great and a decent portion.

Cover charge of £10 after 10pm on a Saturday but add yourself to the guestlist and it is normally free before 11pm.
