Bar in Fitzrovia
Genuine Liquorette is a quirky cocktail bar in Fitzrovia set inside a converted Victorian pub on Rathbone Place. The concept is led by General Manager Matt Roberts, with an innovative bar programme from Bar Manager Elliot Davies, whose past experience includes Ace Hotel and Callooh Callay. The walls are adorned with neon signature, collages of 70s personalities and are lined with spirit bottles. All looks pretty cool!
The ground floor offers cocktails on tap but, for me, the upstairs bar is where to go! Head up the vintage liquor ad-clad stairwell to find Liquorette’s signature ‘Cha-Chunker’ cocktails. These are a novel invention resulting in a playful twist on the classic spirit and mix. Weekly bartending masterclasses are also held upstairs on the first floor. These in-depth, lively and interactive classes teach participants how to be their own bartender! As we visited early on a Saturday we were able to have a cheeky trip behind the bar.
We made a Pornstar Martini (Absolut, Rio Tropical, Lemon, Vanilla Bitters, Passion Fruit) and Espresso Martini (Absolut, Sandow’s Cold Brew and Kahliua) which were both £10. If you don’t want all of your alcohol at the bottom of the can then make sure you pour a little in as you go!
We also loved the Tom Collins with Plymouth Gin and Lemony Lemondae which was light and refreshing. For the banana lovers, you will love the P&B Ramos with Beefeater, Parsley & Banana Mix, Creme de Banane, Egg White.
The five star pizzas
Genuine Liquorette offers a bespoke ‘Five-Star’ pizza menu developed by Daniele Pampagnin of Cecconi’s and Soho House London. The menu includes a real variety including ‘Shrooms, made with stracciatella, chanterelle, summer black truffle, and vegan options such as the Holy Vegan made with Vegan mozzarella, sweet potatoes, baby spinach, red onion and pine nuts. We sampled the Hot and Bothered pizza with spicy salami, chilli and honey (£11) which was absolutely delicious!
Genuine Liquorette is an awesome bar in Fitzorvia serving inventive cocktails in a quirky setting with lovely staff. Make sure you save some room to try the epic pizzas too!
