The Avalon Hotel in Tintagel
If you are looking for a boutique hotel in Tintagel, I thoroughly recommend The Avalon. It is perfectly located in the heart of the village just a ten minute walk from Tintagel Castle. The deciding factor when booking this hotel were the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and cliff tops from the terrace area. There is also free parking on site at the end of the small entrance path. [NOTE: as at April 2021, it appears that the hotel is for sale and not currently accepting bookings. An alternative hotel is the King Arthur’s Arms in the heart of town].
The Hotel Rooms
The Avalon Hotel has seven stylish, boutique bedrooms, all with en-suite shower rooms, smart televisions, mini-bar / fridge and complimentary wi-fi & tea trays. Built in the early 1900s, it has been tastefully refurbished to a high standard in a contemporary style, while also retaining some of the original Edwardian features.
The room start from £90 per night including breakfast. We booked directly through the hotel and stayed in Room 7 with its vibrant mustard and navy blue colouring. This room was situated at the front of the hotel with stunning views of the Cornish coast and had a cute window seat, a small desk and lamps with wi-fi chargers.
Food at The Avalon Hotel
The breakfast is served in two sittings due to current Covid-19 guidelines and you select your choices the night before. Complimentary with your room stay is a continental breakfast which includes cereal, toast, fruit, pastries and meats and cheeses. Absolutely plenty of choice but if you fancy upgrading to a hot breakfast, it is only £5 extra,
The hotel also serves dinner (outdoor seating weather dependent) from 6-8pm. The main dishes including fish & chips and a rather delicious looking lamb tagine. Make sure you book in advance as there is limited space.
Great Tintagel Hotel
The Avalon Hotel in Tintagel is a great choice for reasonably priced and well located accommodation. The hosts were friendly and helpful, breakfast was plentiful and we loved being able to walk everywhere.
