Long Table Bangkok
Rooftop in Bangkok
Situated in the vibrant Sukhumvit district is Long Table Rooftop in Bangkok. It is located on the 25th floor of Ratchada Road’s impressive Column Building.
Long Table has been successfully running for 10 years and I can see why! It serves modern Thai cuisine with a menu consisting of traditional dishes offered with a creative and distinctive twist.
The interior is appropriately designed after the name of the restaurant with the main centrepiece being a long table. There are also smaller booths where you take your shoes off (they are put in boxes by the table). It is a sophisticated yet laid back dining experience.
The bar area outside at Long Table is similarly beautiful with a mixture of sofa’s, tables and high bar stools overlooking Bangkok. There is also a swimming pool outside which would make one fantastic pool party. The views are extensive and it feels rather special being so high up on the rooftop in Bangkok.
The Drinks
The service was fantastic from the start with the staff being very accommodating. From the cocktail menu (all 350 baht) we had the Bangkok Cosmopolitan: orange vodka, Cointreau, pomegranate juice, lime juice and syrup. This was presented in a martini glass with a flower which looked just lovely. We also had the Dots Mocktail: Dragonfruit, mint leaves, vanilla syrup, apple juice and cranberry juice which was refreshing. The Spritz Passion and Tang also looked fantastic.
The Food
We had a set menu which was designed for sharing. From the appetizers section we had Tiger Prawns on fried crispy betel leaves with sweet tamarind sauce and fried lemongrass. We also tried the Chilled Alaska King Crab Meat and avocado salad with tobiko caviar and white wasabi sesame dressing and garlic bread. The prawns had a great kick to them and were the perfect level of spice.
Our main courses were Grilled Wagyu beef sirloin with sautéed spinach and mushroom served with creamy black pepper and bacon, mushroom sauce and fried onion ring. We also loved the Seared Snow fish in herb thai style with spicy lemon sauce and green pea.
These main dishes were really rather fantastic. The steak was melt in your mouth with great flavours with the creamy black pepper and mushroom sauce. The onion rings were lightly fried and accompanied the steak perfectly. Snow fish was similar to cod – a light white fish with an amazing herb dressing with lots of flavour.
We were pretty full by the end of this but just had to try the desserts. The Raspberries and Sesame Crisp with passion fruit syrup and vanilla ice cream was so beautifully presented in stacks. I loved the creamy texture mixed with the crispiness of the sesame – a great dish. We also tried a classic Thai dessert of Mango with sticky rice and fried mung beans.
We had a fantastic dining experience at Long Table Bangkok. It offers great food, cocktails and service on a rooftop in Bangkok without breaking the bank. Make sure you visit for “wind it up sundowners” at Long Table between 5pm and 7pm where there is a special happy hour dining menu and 241 on selected drinks.
