Bottomless Brunch in the City

Bottomless brunches have become a staple of London. Who just wants brunch anymore when they can have a boozy brunch?! Given so many restaurants are introducing this into their menu, standing out from the crowd can be difficult. M restaurants offer a different bottomless brunch in the city, the USP being the bottomless cocktails! More on that shortly.

We visited the restaurant in Bank, just off Old Broad Street (M also have a branch in Victoria). The two-tiered restaurant is plush with an open kitchen, huge restaurant area, cocktail bar, whiskey lounge, wine tasting room and private members lounge. More than enough to entertain yourselves with! Even though the restaurant is beautifully adorned, the staff are friendly and laid back not blinking an eye when we wore flip flops and trainers. They even allow dogs in!

Beauty and the Beast Brunch: The cocktails

So, the brunch offer is every Saturday at either location between 11am-3pm. It is £55 pp for two courses (from the Beauty or Beast menu) and bottomless drinks for 90 minutes.

Let’s start with the cocktails. On the beauty menu (the lighter meu) they offered:

  • BEAUTY BELLINI’S: Martini D.O.C. Prosecco, Peach Purée
  • SPARKLING SPRITZ: Martini D.O.C. Prosecco, Aperol, Soda
  • DIAMONDS ARE COSMOPOLITAN Grey Goose L’Original, Triple Sec, Lime, Cranberry
  • PURE PROSECCO Martini D.O.C. Prosecco
  • BELLE’S ROSÉ Wicked Lady, White Zinfandel Rosé
  • PORNSTAR MARTINI Grey Goose La Vanille Vodka | Vanilla liqueur | Passion fruit | Prosecco

Between us we managed to try all bar the Belle’s Rose! Our favourites were the Beauty Bellini which wasn’t too sweet and the Sparkling Spritz (Aperol Spritz). The cocktails were all freshly made (no pre-mixed ones) and the staff were great at noticing when our drinks were almost empty and requesting our next order.

On the Beast Menu, you could choose from the following cocktails;

  • GODZILLA NEGRONI: Bombay Sapphire, Martini Rubino, Martini Bitter Riserva
  • A TROLL’S OLD FASHIONED: Santa Teresa 1796, Angostura Bitters, Brown Sugar
  • BEASTLY SOUR: Woodford Reserve, Lemon, Egg White, Sugar
  • ESPRESSO MARTINI: Grey Goose L’Vanille, Patron XO Coffee, Espresso, Sugar
  • COLOSSAL CUBA: Bacardi Carta Blanca, Lime, Cola
  • DINOSAUR’S DRAFT BEER: Beer Story, Devanha Lager

We didn’t make our way through quite as many on the beast menu! We loved the Godzilla Negroni and the Beastly Sour wasn’t as strong as we expected. The restaurant was also very flexible when we requested the Espresso Martini with decaf.

It really was an absolute treat to be able to mix and match the different cocktails and for the staff to be so attentive and on the ball with topping up.

The Beauty and the Beast Menu: The Food

The idea behind the menu is to choose from the lighter more delicate ‘beauty’ options or the naughtier ‘beast’ dishes. Our waitress explained that you can mix and match and identified the smaller dishes for starters (although you can have everything arrive at once).

From the Beauty menu we opted for the Avocado & Poached Eggs, Crème Fraîche, Feta, Sourdough. This was a great warm up dish and offered a filling portion of avocado with a delicious hint of crème fraiche. Other items on this menu included Cobia Sashimi, Spring Green Risotto and Hake.

The rest of our choices focused on the Beast side of the menu where all the dishes looked top notch! For our smaller dish we were drawn to the Chicken Karage with Chilli and Caramel Glaze. The chicken could have been slightly more tender, but that glaze was something else.

For the main event we opted for The Big M Burger with chips. We were warned by the waitress how big it was but had expected an exaggeration. This certainly was not the case, stacked with double patty, onion rings, cheese, bacon and salad, this burger was huge. Cooked medium it was succulent and juicy and made for a very filling main dish.

We also had the Botswana Rib Eye (300g) cooked medium with chips. The meat was flavoursome and tender, and we thought it was great that steak was included with the £55 menu (note that the larger Tomahawk Steak (550g) is a £10 supplement).

Overall

M restaurants offers an amazing bottomless brunch in the City. The bottomless cocktail offering was an absolute win for us and made it worthy of the £55 price tag. That said, the food was also super impressive, as was the service. Overall, a really great brunch that we would return for!
