O Botecto Barrio Alto: Rua do Gremio Lusitano 14, Lisbon 1200-212, Portugal
Great find just off a side street in Barrio Alto, O Boteco serves traditional Portugese food with an Italian twist. Tables outside for al fresco dining and cute inside area as well.
The food and drink were good quality and very reasonable priced – 2 courses with wine (plenty of) was only 25 Euros. Try the espumante for 8 Euros – fizzy rose which was actually pretty good!

For starters we had the smoked sausage (on fire!) and a brushcetta type bread with olives. They also had the most beautiful tomato based sauce for the bread – we had to ask for more!

For mains we tried the mushroom risotto, shrimp risotto and the veal with new potatoes and salad. Great food and really filling.

Floresta do Calhariz: R. Luz Soriano 9, Lisboa, Portugal

Tucked away down one of the side streets in Barrio Alto is a typical Portuguese restaurant, Floresta do Calhariz with a Brazilian twist.

We sat outside, although be warned it is on a slope so feels a little strange at the beginning! The staff were very friendly and the food was pretty good – nothing amazing but the prices were very reasonable, the house white was a bargain price of 8 Euros (and was decent!) and it was a nice evening :).

We tried the smoked sausage to begin, as well as the soup and the prawns. I opted for the Brazilian style meat for mains – thinly sliced steak with peppercorn sauce, chips, rice AND salad!

Casa Vintage: Rua de S. Paulo 61, 1200-426 1200 Lisbon

Great little find in Cais do Sodre with modern airy interior and good food to match. Once again the house white at only 9Euros was lovely.

Pictured below is the lamb, which was so tasty, succulent and non fatty and the pasta with squid ink. My friend also had the octopus, which looked fantastic.

The service was very friendly and accommodating and we were given some complimentary port at the end!
