Simply Indian

Simply Indian is tucked away on Tabard Street right near Borough Market tube and has been well established in the local neighbourhood for 17 years.

The restaurant focuses on the quality of the ingredients – fresh and authentic with a steer towards South India cuisine. We had the mixed appetizer (chicken, lamb and bhaji) and some wonderful chicken mince dim sum, which was the perfect level of spiciness. Oh, and poppadoms of course!

Following this came the thali – what a feast! Beautiful, vibrant colours – wonderful flavours and tender meat. We had the chicken makhani, lamb ishtew, veggie birayani and a potato dish,  which also came with chipati and rice. Decent, filling food and not too oily or stodgy. Also try the tropical green tea which my friend loved!

The staff are friendly and helpful and are willing to go out their way to accommodate you and different food tastes.

Another bonus of Simply Indian is the fact it is BYOB and there is no corkage fee, which is rare in London. So you just pay for the top quality food, which is reasonably priced.

My friend said that the meal was the best Indian she had tasted in London, which is a massive compliment!

The restaurant is planning on undergoing some renovations to allow for more tables and new decoration / updated menus, so I look forward to returning!
