The Bottomless Brunch Menu
You can opt for 2 courses (£22.50) or 3 courses for (£27.50) plus £20pp for bottomless prosecco, bellinis and mimosas. The peach puree for the bellinis and orange juice for the mimosas arrive in little jugs so you can mix and match how you wish! The staff were very attentive with topping up the prosecco with glasses hardly ever going beyond half empty.
There are 6 choices for starters including Eggs Benedict / Royale and Florentine. We opted for the Barbecue Chicken Wings with red chilli, spring onion and lime and the Black Pudding Scotch Eggs with burnt apple sauce. The wings were slightly crispy and the red chilli gave them some kick. It was good to have this choice on a brunch menu. The scotch eggs were impressive with the black pudding not being too overpowering.
There are 9 options for main dishes including Salt Beef Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Prawn Brioche Roll and Veggie Rosti. We had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with toasted waffles, smoked bacon and chicken fat butter and the Chop House Burger with added bacon (£2). We also could not resist the mini hash browns whit sriracha mayo (£3) and Triple Cooked Chips (£4).
The waffle dish was tasty with plenty of chicken and delicious crispy bacon. However, I would have preferred it with maple syrup rather than the butter but that’s just personal preference. The burger was huge with plenty of filling including cheddar, baby gem, mayo and coleslaw. Due to restrictions, they have to cook it well done, which is a shame. Nonetheless, it was still a good meaty burger. Oh and the hash browns were amazing!
There are 4 options for dessert including sticky toffee pudding. Sadly, I was too full to order this and didn’t want to waste it! The Dark Chocolate Cake with chocolate caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream was delicious – not too heavy or rich. We also had a mixture of sorbet (passionfruit) and ice cream (blueberry) which was so refreshing.
South Place Chop House was a great venue offering a delicious bottomless brunch in the City. They even have one on a Sunday with a Roast! Service was good, the atmosphere was busy (but not packed) and there was a decent selection of food on offer. The menus may change so keep an eye on their website.
