Sushi Restaurant in Soho

Temakinho is a lovely sushi restaurant in Soho with plenty of outdoor seating serving up Japanese and South American flavours.  The menu has some really exciting ingredient pairings which make you excited to try the dishes.

Cocktail Menu at Temakinho

The drinks menu kicks off the fusion of flavours with a capirinha selection including sake capirinhas. We started with the passion fruit sake capirinha (£11.50) and the mango and pink pepper capirinha (£11.50). The flavours in both were great – very fruity and tangy and the pink peppercorns were a nice twist too.

Brazilian and Japanese Fusion Menu

The menu is a mix of dishes from Brazilian tapas to ceviche and sushi rolls, which makes it great for sharing. To start we tried the Cassava Fries served with chive mayo (£5), the Octopus, Red Prawn, Salmao & Red Drum Ceviche served with fresh chilli, ginger, coriander & cancha toasted corn (£14) and Yellowtail Amberjack Tartare served with avocado, lime & ginger (£14.50).

Our favourite was the ceviche dish, which was incredibly fresh with lip smackingly flavourful sauce and a delicious crispy prawn on top.

On to mains, we tried:

  • MEXICANA Stuffed with crispy prawn & avocado, topped with yellowtail amberjack, guacamole, nachos & ceviche sauce (£13.50)
  • PAULISTA NIGHTS Stuffed with crispy prawn, mango & cucumber, topped with seared yellowtail amberjack, teriyaki, orange tobiko & sesame (£13.50)
  • TERIYAKI PRAWN & SALMÃO  Stuffed with crispy prawn, topped with salmon, spicy mayo, teriyaki & sesame (£12.50)

The dish arrived beautifully presented with a circle of sushi, edible flowers and pretty green swirls of wasabi.  The flavours of the Mexicana worked really well and the crushed nachos sprinkled across were great texture wise.  The Paulista nights was fruity and fresh, the orange tobiko a tasty but also nice aesthetic addition to each piece.  The teriyaki prawn was also lovely, with the prawns fried to perfection, lovely and crisp and a generous drizzle of sauces on top.
