The Culpepper was an absolutely brilliant find on Commercial Street, near Aldgate station.
Beautiful gastro pub with high ceilings and a industrial shabby chic type feel with retro furniture and a wonderful zinc topped bar in the centre. The venue has a ground floor pub, first floor dining room and a roof terrace and roof garden, where they grow fresh herbs!
Pub wise there is a decent selection of craft beer and cocktails and the bartenders were really friendly and happy to have a chat when it wasn’t too busy.
Sadly didn’t get to try the main food but can see they offer a simple menu of 3 starters, mains and desserts which changes daily. Pretty much guarantees fresh food! We did have some snacks on the roof terrace though which were good – the custard tart was the best!
Open until 2 at the weekends and last orders at midnight during the week.
