Tootoomoo is a pan-asian restaurant with branches in Angel, Highgate, Crouch End and Whetstone offering a selection of dishes influenced by Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisines.

I visited the Angel branch on St Pauls Road for their bottomless brunch – unlimited food and drink from a set menu for £35 for 1.5 hours. There are rules though – you can only order new main dishes when you have finished your last one and the same with the drinks. This is understandable given they offer a selection of cocktail jugs, wines and beers, so discourage people from ordering an a whole array of drinks. The same rules do not apply for the Tootoomoo tapas dishes, so you can order a few at a time.

I rated the Tootoomoo tapas dishes which were actually quite plentiful. We had the  Chicken Gyoza black rice vinaigrette, Shichimi Squid Japanese pepper & sweet chilli, BBQ Pork Ribs char shiu sauce & sesame and the Soft Shell Crab Sushi Maki gari, wasabi, soy. I particularly rated the squid dish (the sauce was lovely) and the ribs had plenty of meat on them, which fell off the bone.

To follow, we had the aromatic duck pancakes with crudites and the chicken pad thai. The duck was tasty but the pad thai was a little bland.

We also had a jug of Elderflower Tootoomoo gin with sparkling elderflower & fresh mint and a beer and wine. If you are prepared to eat and drink quickly, then go for the bottomless brunch but if not, I recommend going for lunch and choosing off the main menu, where the tapas dishes are only between £4-6.

The restaurant is small and decorated like a local Asian eatery, which is nice, but as they also offer delivery, there were  drivers coming in and out of the restaurant and you can’t help noticing it. The service was also a little average.
