Japanese restaurant in Fitzrovia
Flesh and Buns is an amazing Japanese restaurant in Fitzrovia with another venue in Covent Garden. Offering a 170 cover dining area, the restaurant is pretty swanky without being pretentious. Think oaky furnishings, gorgeous light fittings, plush seating and Japanese décor.

The open kitchen with seating creates an open atmosphere where you can watch the chefs at work. There are some booths available for larger parties so perfect for celebratory events!

The Small Plates
The menu focuses on Nikkei cuisine (Japanese Peruvian fusion) with a mixture of sushi, seafood and meats and, of course, bao buns. The Chicken Yaki with Japanese spices and spring onion and the the Korean fried chicken wings with spicy sour sauce were the standout dishes. (£5.9). The wings were sticky, messy and all kinds of delicious! The Tenderstem Broccoli with orange miso balanced out all the meat.

The Flesh and Buns
We could have easily sampled all of the flesh and buns on the menu but ended up opting for the Japanese Fried Chicken, Buttermilk Marinated, Red Chilli, Rocoto Chilli BBQ mayo and the the Smoked miso brisket with chipotle miso bbq sauce, red chilli pickle. The latter stole the show. The meat was unbelievably tender and melted in my mouth and the combination of the bbq sauce and red chilli pickle provided a kick without being overpowering.

Brunch Menu and Express Omakase Menu
If you visit this Japanese restaurant in Fitzrovia on a weekend, the bottomless brunch menu is great value with 3 courses plus unlimited prosecco, red wine, white wine or Asahi for only £35. Absolute bargain given sometimes just the bottomless is £25 at many other places.
The Express Omakase Midweek Menu is also an absolute steal at £25 for 3 courses including edamame, yaki and bao buns. Add on ‘Smores which you toast at your table for just £5 extra.

Flesh and Buns is an amazing Japanese restaurant in Fitzrovia with great ambience, service and food. The quality is consistently excellent and it is one of my favourite restaurants in London.
