Hotel in Central Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City is pretty spread out – even District 1 covers a number of miles! We wanted to be within walking distance of the main attractions including the War Museum and Notre Dame so opted for a hotel in Central Ho Chi Minh City. That said, we soon discovered that the sheer amount of motorbikes on the road (and the pedestrian pavements!!) was a little out of control. So a local taxi or a GRAB (like Asia’s uber) is sometimes necessary.
We opted for the 4 star Central Palace Hotel which was around £55 per night including breakfast). It was ideally situated less than a 10 minute walk from Ben Thanh Night Market and Notre Dame and 20 minutes from the War Museum.
During our stay the staff were very friendly and helpful with our bags, directions and ordering taxis. The reception area of the hotel is impressively large and there are traditional murals behind reception.
Our room was a decent size with complimentary toilets, water and a safe. It looked a little worn down in places but the price for a central location was justified. Our only frustration was the sound from the nightclub nearby – it was so loud! Luckily the reception had earplugs. This seems to be a common issue with reviews….
The rooftop infinity pool was a bonus with views over the City and was a great place to watch the sunset. There was also a gym with views of the city! Breakfast was plentiful with freshly made egg dishes and lots of variety, both continental and cooked. The hotel was also happy to pack us a breakfast for our early airport start.
We were particularly impressed with the rooftop infinity pool and the friendly service. It was reasonably priced for a hotel within walking distance of the main sights.
