Hotel in Hoi An

There is very little accommodation in Hoi An Ancient town itself – only a handful of homestays. I recommend choosing a hotel in Hoi An within a 10 minute walk from the town, as that is probably where you will spend most of your time. Alternatively, there are a number of hotels in and around An Bang beach but you would need a taxi into the town (around 10 minutes). I do not recommend staying in Da Nang (where the airport is) which is a 45 minute drive away.

We stayed at Laluna Hotel in Hoi An, situated just a 5 minute walk from the Ancient Town. We arrived in the evening when the lanterns were all lit up outside the hotel and it felt very welcoming and homely.

Our double room featured wooden carvings and Vietnamese pictures, making it feel like an authentic boutique hotel room. There were a number of facilities – a safe, complimentary toiletries, a hairdryer, robes, flip flops and fridge with complimentary bottled water each day.

Pool and Breakfast

Laluna has a small pool with a few sunbeds and a bar area with happy hour from 5.30-6.30. The pool is covered most of the day by the hotel building does not get too much sun. However, it is still a lovely area to sit and chill for parts of the day.

The buffet breakfast was plentiful with Western and Asian choices. The selection included cereals, fresh local fruit, meats and cheese, breads, freshly cooked omelette, sausage, bacon, noodles and dim sum. There was definitely something for everyone! They also made us a breakfast box when we left the airport early on our last day.

Finally, we treated ourselves to a 60 minute massage during our stay (£15). Whilst this is more expensive than the other local spa’s around the area, it was so worth it and one of the best I have had!

Overall

Laluna hotel in Hoi An is a great choice and very affordable at less than £60 a night including breakfast. The location was perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was plentiful. A one way transfer booked through the hotel to / from the airport is $20 and a metered taxi is nearer $15.
