Hotel in Penang
Parkroyal is a gorgeous 4 star hotel in Penang located in Batu Ferringhi. We only stayed for three nights but had an amazing time. In hindsight, it may have been easier to stay in Georgetown for such a short stay given Batu Ferringhi is located 1 hour from the airport. However, we really liked the area and GRAB taxis (basically the SE Asia Uber) are so cheap and convenient.
Parkroyal Penang Resort is well situated by Batu Ferringhi beach and offers 4 dining options and two outdoor pools. The reception / lounge area is stunning donned in reds and golds and the rooms are decorated in a modern and contemporary style. They come equipped with LED TV, tea & coffee making facilities, minibar and personal digital safe.
The Pools
The large pool has sunbeds surrounding it, as well as plenty of sunbeds on the garden area just a few seconds from the pool. We found the garden sunbeds caught more sun all day long and were more private.
The hotel also has a fun Amazonia water theme park with two slides which were super fun (I did ask if I was allowed!). The pools were our main attraction to this wonderful hotel in Penang.
Dining Options
Our room rate of £70 per night included breakfast which is available from 6am – 10.30am. There was such a feast available with everything you could possibly want – pastries, cakes, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cooked English style breakfast (no pork), Chinese style breakfast and Arabic breakfast. The chefs also prepared freshly cooked egg based dishes.
Cinnamon Asian Kitchen and Gustoso offer a la carte options for lunch and dinner. There are also light bites available at the pool. The Sunset Bar has happy hour from 5-7pm where cocktails are £9 for two. There were over 30 to choose from including Blue Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Daiquiri and Sinapore Sling.
Overall
Parkroyal hotel in Penang is a great option for a mid priced yet beautiful hotel which plenty of amenities. The staff were friendly, the pool was great and the location by the beach is gorgeous.
