Where to stay in Cheddar, Somerset
Situated less than a 10 minute drive from Cheddar is the beautiful Strawberryfield Park eco lodge park. Set up within a 14 acre estate in the countryside, the park features 24 sustainable eco-holiday self-catering lodges with private hot tubs. It’s family run and independent with direct access to the owners if you have any queries. Read more about our luxury lodge in Cheddar in this blog post!

The lodges can sleep between 2-4 people and are available for a minimum stay of 3 nights from a Friday or 4 nights from a Monday. You can also book a 7 night stay from Friday or Monday. We booked 2 months in advance and there were only 2 lodges left – it’s clearly a popular place to stay!

The Sleights Lodge in Cheddar with a Hot Tub!
We stayed at The Sleights lodge (which could sleep up to 4 people) from Monday to Friday which was around £650 in September. You pay a 20% deposit upon booking and the final balance at least 8 weeks before your stay. The Sleights is the first lodge as you enter Strawberryfield Park and is the only one without dedicated parking directly outside, which was a shame. That said, the parking at the Cider Barn (a bar separate from the lodge but on the same grounds) is only a couple of minutes walk away.

The lodge is bright and spacious with modern interiors, a slick open plan kitchen, living and dining space, two large double bedrooms with en suites, a hallway for storage and a large outside area with seating and a sunken jacuzzi hot tub. It was a real treat for just two of us but could comfortably fit four people.

There were plenty of utensils, crockery and glasses with a large fridge, freezer, toaster, microwave, coffee machine and kettle. Complimentary coffee pods and tea are provided, as well as milk and sugar. We shopped before we arrived at the lodge but there is a Tesco Express and Sainsbury’s in Cheddar.

Whilst the lodge itself is gorgeous, the hot tub was the real draw to booking Strawberryfield Park. Some of the lodges have jacuzzi sunken hot tubs and others have a freestanding hot tub you climb into.

There are various extras that you can add to your stay including a breakfast hamper, champagne, logs for the burner and rose petals. We had a great one hour massage with Massage by Jo which you can pre book through the website. Jo was prompt, professional and friendly and it’s definitely a worthy add-on.

Definitely worth a visit!
We were very impressed with our stay at Strawberryfield Park in terms of location, style, amenities and price, particularly given each lodge has a hot tub. It was a great base for exploring Somerset including nearby Cheddar, Wells and Glastonbury. It’s also only 45 minutes – 1 hour from Bath and Bristol. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a luxury lodge in Cheddar!
