Pub in Highbury
The Gatehouse is a gorgeous independent local pub in Highgate situated right in the heart of the village. Not only is it a great pub, it also has a great restaurant area, beer garden and theatre upstairs!
The beer garden is great in the summer for warm alfresco dining but also cosy in the winter as they provide outdoor blankets and heaters. It is also dog friendly! We sipped on a glass of Macabeo, borsao Spanish wine (£6.75 for 250ml) and a glass of prosseco (£6.25). They also have a a large range of local and continental craft beer and ale.
You would never know there was an award-winning London Fringe Theatre upstairs. It offers a varied programme of cabaret, drama and musicals seating up to 140.
We haven’t had the chance to sample the food but head chef Chris Payne focuses on quality seasonal British food with a strong Spanish influence. They also serve what looked like an epic roast on Sundays and offer live jazz in the evening.
Definitely give this pub in Highgate a visit if you are in the area!
