Sichuan cuisine in London
Barshu, in the heart of Soho, is a great venue for Sichuan cuisine in London. The food of Sichuan province in southwest China is most famous for it fiery spiciness using lip tingling chillies and pepper so we were excited to try the menu!
The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helped us navigate the extensive menu to pick out dishes that would suit our spice level. The menu offers a selection of Sichuan tapas to share and a huge selection of mains, so try and visit in a group to get the most out of it.

Sichuan dishes in Soho
We tried the following dishes on the menu:
- Salt and pepper soft shell crab
- Cloud ear fungus, wiht coriander

- Barshu smacked cucumber
- Dan Dan Noodles
- Fish Fragrant Prawns

The crab was beautifully crisp and the Dan Dan noodles were a warming, hearty dish – both our favourites.
Dishes start from £5 with most of the main dishes around the £12-14 mark. As expected, the dishes were full of flavour and spice (without it being overpowering).
Barshu is a friendly spot for delicious Sichuan food in Soho.
