How to spend a weekend in Broadstairs

Weekend in Broadstairs

Broadstairs is situated on the Kent Coast accessible on the train from London Victoria or London St Pancras with cheap tickets if booked in advance. It’s a family friendly (and adult friendly!) place to visit with beautiful beaches and plenty of things to do.

Where to stay in Broadstairs

We stayed in a modern and reasonably priced beach front flat via Air B&B. It was conveniently located only a 3 minute walk from Stone Bay beach and a 10 minute walk into town via the clifftop Victoria Gardens ending up at Bleak House where Charles Dickens lived.

The two-bedroom flat had everything you needed for a comfortable stay in terms of facilities and kitchenware. It also had plenty of books and games for a cosy night in. The host was communicative and gave us recommendations before we visited.

Where to eat in Broadstairs

There are a large number of great restaurants in Broadstairs. We loved:

  1. Albariño Tapas – definitely book this gem of a Spanish restaurant in advance given its popularity and limited covers. With traditional tapas, our favourite dishes were the Roasted Cauliflower, Beef & Pork Meatballs and Iberico Jamon Croquettes.

2. Sardinia – a popular Italian restaurant with reasonably priced pasta and pizza from only £9.95. They also offer a set lunch 2 course menu for only £14.95. I loved the Fresh Orecchiette pasta cooked with Italian pork sausage, pumpkin finished with pecorino cheese shavings and gorgonzola.

3. The Royal AlbionWith views of the sea from its restaurant and courtyard, The Royal Albion is a great spot for lunch or dinner. Thoroughly recommend their home made fish finger sandwich.
