We started our evening with a lovely glass of Moet champagne (£12) to celebrate our Friday night. With the steak, we had a glass of California red wine, Bogle Phantom, which had delicious dark fruit flavours.
There are a number of starters on offer including Loch Var Smoked Salmon, Burrata, Oysters and Veal Tenderloin. Whilst tempting, we skipped starters to ensure we had ample room for mains and desserts! However, we did have some rosemary and potato sourdough to warm up our stomach.
There are various cuts of meat straight off the Josper Grill including fillet, ribeye, sirloin, hanger and veal. We opted for the 28 day aged Aberdeen Angus Chateaubriand (£11 per 100g). Served medium, it was tender in the middle and grilled around the edges. Just perfect.
The Chateaubriand was served with bone marrow and we had triple cooked chips, Bearnaise and peppercorn sauce. Our favourite side however was the curried cauliflower, yogurts and almonds (£4.50). It was great to see such a good and unique selection of side dishes.
We were chuffed that we had made room for the desserts as we loved the sound of all of them! Helpfully, the menu also suggests a paired dessert wine.
We could not resist the Cambridge Burnt Cream (£7.50) which was so silky smooth. The Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream (£8) had a great amount of sauce but was a little too dense for us.
Finishing up a fantastic meal we had petit fours and an espresso. What a meal – safe to say we were stuffed!
