Nue Ground

Cafe in Clapham

Nue Ground is a great new cafe in Clapham with a beautiful light airy and calm space. We visited for a special Veganuary January offering so make sure you check their menu for the usual dishes.

Their detox shot (£3) with celery, was a potent but refreshing and fiery shot. The chilli really has a kick! Nue Ground also offer a range of smoothies and pressed juices, hot drinks and a handful of cocktails.

On our special Veganuary menu, we enjoyed a joyful colourful plate of bright yellow smoked turmeric hummus with a delicious fresh garlic flat bread with coriander oil.  The hummus was lightly flavoured without being over powered by turmeric and beautifully presented.

Main wise we had a comforting bowl of winter squash, chickpea and jeera curry with steamed brown rice.  A tasty (and healthy) offering in itself, the bowl was spiced up with a delightful serving of cauliflower bhajis – bite sized and crispy they were a great little addition.  There was also a flavourful (and colourful) trio of coconut raita coriander chutney and mango salsa to accompany the dish – a very satisfying and warming main dish indeed.

For dessert, we so impressed with the vegan pecan brownie! It was rich, moist and fudge-y – a great centrepiece paired wonderfully by poached pear and cardamom coulis.  Also on the dish were shards of crisp pecan brittle and an incredibly creamy vanilla ice cream.

These dishes were so good, we hope that Nue Ground keeps them on the menu!

Nue Ground is a lovely new cafe in Clapham and a great addition to south London’s cafe scene.  Whilst the regular menu is not solely vegan, they do have vegan options to choose from.  Additionally they host wellness focused events meaning there is a real community focused feel to the place.  The baked counter looked pretty great too.
