Cafe in the Royal Docks
Little Hudson Cafe is an independent cafe in the Royal Docks which is a breath of a fresh air in a newly developed area. It was founded by locals who recognised that a brunch spot was much needed in the area.
They pride themselves on making their dishes with fresh ingredients, which are sourced locally where possible to help support other independents. Some of the suppliers they work with include Allpress, The Snapery Bakery and Prana Chai Good & Proper Tea.
The cafe certainly has a neighbourhood, community feel to it with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Their brunch menu offers a range of dishes so there is something for everyone.
We opted for the Mediterranean Stack with Grilled halloumi cheese layered with sautéed spinach, Hudson-made chilli, tomato and pepper jam and sourdough toast, topped with a poached egg (£9). The sourdough bread was so delicious, lightly toasted and accompanied with big chunks of mouthwatering halloumi cheese. The balsamic glaze dressing just rounded the dish off.
The Fishy on a Little Dishy with two poached eggs on a brioche bun with H. Forman & Sons smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce was another winning dish (£9). The salmon was so fresh and the hollandaise sauce was dreamy.
Little Hudson is a such a lovely independent cafe in the Royal Docks with amazing food and service. If brunch doesn’t tickle your fancy, they also have sandwiches, salads and pizzas on a Saturday evening. Oh, and I need to go back for their white chocolate brownie!
