Bar in Brixton
The Blues Kitchen has become a bit of a staple in London with branches in Brixton, Shoreditch and Camden. Offering Texan Cajun BBQ cuisine, it feels like an upmarket American diner with booths and low lights.
Live music plays every night – blues, soul and jazz – which creates a really fun atmosphere. It is open until 2.30am on a Friday and 3am on a Saturday so you can party the night away!
We had a couple of cocktails to kick off the night! I especially loved ‘The Hurricane‘ – Morgan Spiced and Dark rums mixed with pineapple juice, fresh passionfruit and grenadine and bitters.
To start with we had the Buffalo Wings with blue cheese dip which were slightly crispy and smothered in delicious sauce! We also had the Spinach, Artichoke and Parmsean dip served with tortilla chips, which I initially thought would be underwhelming but actually was so delicious.
On to the mains, we had the Beef Short Rib slow smoked for 12 hours served with fries and coleslaw, which just fell off the bone. It was so filling I ended up taking the rest home! My friend had the Smoked Stuffed Aubergine served with a green tomato ragu, feta cheese crust, beetroot and kale kapenade, cashew cream & pomegranate balsamic vinegar. Despite most people saying that the Blues Kitchen is for meat eaters, my friend liked the vegetarian selection.
The Blues Kitchen bar in Brixton is reasonably priced, especially if you stay for the live music afterwards (and therefore do not have to pay to get in). Make sure to check out Rib Mondays’s for only £10 and Wednesday 241 cocktails all night. It is absolutely worth a visit!
