Things to do in Nice
There are so many lovely things to do in Nice – just read on to find out more.
Free Walking Tour
A quick way to see the Nice Old Town is with Riveria who offer walking tours for free! You can just tip what you feel is reasonable at the end.
The tours are every Tuesday to– Saturday at 11.25 at the Massena Square Fountain. Just look out for the “Apollo statue” and the tour guidee wearing red. The tour takes you around Nice Old Town into the Cours Saleya market and past the Opera House, Rossetti square. It also explores the narrow pedestrianised streets of the Old Town finishing in Castle Hill.
If you do not fancy an organised walking tour, Nice is small enough and easy enough to wander around and get immersed in all the side streets.
It goes without saying that you should wander down to the beautiful promenade. You can walk for ten minutes or an hour or two, so completely up to you.
Climb Colline Du Chateau
Another tip is to climb the beautiful Colline Du Chateau (Castle Hill) where there used to be a castle and the ruins are now open to the public. It is based around 10 minutes from the Old Town or you can get an elevator at Quai Rauba Capeu at the far end of the Promenade.
At the top you are surrounded by a lovely green park. You must follow the gushing sounds to a beautiful waterfall which cascades over a short cliff.
I recommend allowing a couple of hours to explore Colline Du Chateau and getting a little lost on the way.
