BYOB bar in Covent Garden
Alcotraz is a BYOB bar in Covent Garden and the second prison themed immersive bar under the brand. Met by the guards in a secret location, you have been recruited to join the Alcotraz smuggling gang led by inmate Cassidy.

Your first job is to smuggle in the liquor of your choice. Befriend the guards who will help you smuggle it past the Warden. You have no option but to put on your orange jumpsuit and you will be guided to your cell to pass your sentence.

Make sure you tell the guards on duty behind the bar what you like in your cocktail. They will use your smuggled in liquor (you choose what to bring in your group) to concoct 4 cocktails during your 1hr 45min stay. They have a selection of homemade syrups, juices and bitters and are well trained in the job. All served in tin cups, they aren’t fancy pants cocktails but are a selection of sweet, sour, bitter and strong!

The prison warden is anti-alcohol so make sure you keep your smuggled in alcohol and cocktails hidden! If your alcohol is discovered, you will be in trouble!

Overall
Alcotraz is designed to meet the growing trend for immersive nights out and is a great BYOB in Covent Garden. It is particularly fun if you go with a group of fellow inmates and share one cell together (they are allocated first come first serve). The threatrical side is engaging without being cringey and there were a fair few laughs! I did enjoy the ‘show’ more at the Brick Lane venue so this new location may just need some refinement. The 1hr 45 min slots on Wednesday to Saturday are £34.99 a ticket which gets you four cocktails (you pay for the booze) and the entertainment.
