Speakeasy in Soho
The Blind Pig is a fantastic speakeasy in Soho above Jason Atherton’s Social Eating House. It has a relaxed atmosphere with seating around the bar, together with a number of smaller tables and booths. The interiors have an antique feel with mirrored ceilings and cabinets with trinkets and other ornaments.
The cocktail menu is inspired by children’s literature and some include a food element. We visited when the ‘Greatest Hits’ menu was on offer which are the most popular cocktails over the year!
We had a Dill or No Dill (also available as a mocktail) with Martin Miller’s gin, cucumber, lemon, dill, elderflower and smoked salt (£12). This was a light and refreshing cocktail with subtle hints of the dill coming through. The Kintergarten Cup was served with Ketel One Vodka, Skittles, Aperol, egg white, lemon, wham bar syrup (£11). How good does that sound?! It literally tasted like an orange skittle (and came with skittles on the side). If you like sweet cocktails, this is one for you.
The rest of the selection looked pretty damn good. There is even a Harry Potter’s Best bottled Butter Bitter! It is a great speakeasy in Soho – just make sure you put your glasses on to spy the opticians sign above the door!
