Best Italian Restaurants in London
Italian food is one of my favourite cuisines – I could eat pizza and pasta for days! Here are some of the best Italian restaurants in London.
Pasta Nostra
Pasta Nostra (which translates to ‘our pasta’) is an Italian restaurant in Old Street. There are a variety of small plates, pastas and a couple of desserts which are freshly made and affordable. We recommend the Spaghetti alla Chitarra with surf clams, courgette sauce, confit tomato which was had amazing flavours and textures. The Mezzaluna, ricotta and fresh herb filled pasta has added texture with the crispy courgette on top.

Flour and Grape
Fresh pasta and great wine – what more do you need?! The menu is simple and effective with eight pasta dishes. We were absolutely blown away by the Tortelloni with roasted pork shoulder, sage butter. The texture and flavours were just fantastic and it just melted in your mouth. Helpfully, there are suggested wine pairing options with each dish.

Pastaio
Pastaio (meaning pasta maker!) serves fresh, delicious and affordable pasta in Soho just off Carnaby Street. Their restaurant in Carnaby Street has bright, vibrant murals on the walls with (mostly) communal seating on black stools and large hanging light features. There are 8 pasta dishes ranging from just £6 (bargain!). The Squash Ravioli, butter, sage is highly recommended.

Emilia’s
Just a stones throw from Tower Bridge lies Emilia’s Crafted Pasta which is situated in a stunning dockside setting in St Katharine’s Dock. For the warmer months, there is an area for sunny al fresco dining with beautiful waterside views. We loved the indulgent Homemade Burrata with Toasted Ciabatta with Extra Virgin Oil and the Veggie Homemade Parmesan, Pecarino and Basil Pesto Casarecce.

La Mia Mamma
We absolutely love the concept of La Mia Mamma where every three months customers embark on an Italian culinary journey focusing on one of the Italian regions. The mammas travel from Italy to London with their recipe books to serve their favourite dishes from their local region. La Mia Mamma offers ‘Mamma’s Menu’ (2 people minimum) where you can build your own menu.

Padella
Padella offers amazing pasta in Shoreditch and London Bridge and is pretty busy as a result. Luckily, you can use the Walk In app to remotely queue if you are within a certain distance.
We tucked into the following four pasta dishes:
- Gnocchi with nutmeg butter (£4)
- Pici Cacio & Pepe (a standard Padella dish) (£6.5)
- Fettuccine with Cobble Lane Cured nduja, mascarpone & lemon
- Ravioli of Westcombe rictotta with butter & sage (£8.5)
Reasonably priced tasty dishes in laid back surroundings.
