Tapas Restaurant in Mayfair
Tucked away just off Park Lane, El Pirata is a popular tapas restaurant in Mayfair and is one of those places that feels like a bit of a hidden gem in the middle of central London. It’s been around since 1994, and has built a reputation for serving authentic Spanish tapas in a relaxed, welcoming setting. The atmosphere is buzzy but unpretentious, with a mix of cosy indoor spaces and a small terrace, and the menu is packed with many classic dishes.

The drinks menu at El Pirata of Mayfair have a strong Spanish influence. There’s a great selection of wines and classic serves including cava and sangria.
There’s a real buzz to the menu, with a tempting mix of flavour-packed tapas, generous sharing plates, and “introduction to tapas” options that make it easy to try a bit of everything – all without stretching the budget. We had:

- Patatas Bravas
- Gambas al pil pil
- Spanish Tortilla
- Croquettas de Jamon
What really stands out is the authenticity: dishes are rooted in traditional Spanish cooking, using fresh ingredients and produce sourced from Spain.
The service at El Pirata of Mayfair was so friendly, efficient and genuinely helpful, which made our experience even better from start to finish. Staff were attentive without being overbearing, always on hand to offer recommendations or guide us through the menu,
